Each wooden soap dish is handmade from reclaimed furniture maker’s off-cuts and sealed with a natural, plant-based varnish.
After taking the plastic free challenge I was inspired to make my family some soap stands for our newly acquired soap and shampoo bars.
The thin slats allow the soap to drain so it lasts longer and you avoid a gunky bottom, yuck. They also mean there’s less surface area for the soap to stick to so it’s easier to use. My kids found removing the soap once it had dried and stuck to thicker bars tricky.
Zero Waste & 100% Compostable
The stand is handmade from reclaimed hardwood. The wood is off cuts from a local furniture maker. Too small for him but perfect for me. Due to the material used, the wood in the photo may be different to the one purchased. They are all equally unique and beautiful.
Unlike many wood glued, the eco friendly glue used is totally free of solvents, VOC’s and formaldehyde and allows this soap dish to be entirely compostable.
Every purchase plants a tree with TreeSisters.
Many wooden soap dishes are coated with polyurethane laquer. This is a type of plastic. These are instead sealed with a natural, plant-based varnish which is just as tough and waterproof.
