This large hand turned ash platter celebrates the simple beauty of British hardwood. I designed it for everyday use, allowing the clean form and flowing grain of the timber to take centre stage.
Ash is a versatile hardwood with a pale golden colour and distinctive grain. Each piece of timber has its own unique markings, so every platter is one of a kind. The broad surface makes it perfect for serving food while also creating an elegant centrepiece for a dining table or kitchen.
I carefully turned the platter to create a shallow profile with a smooth flowing rim. This timeless design suits both modern and traditional homes. Whether you’re serving artisan bread, cheeses, fruit or sharing dishes, the platter is designed to be both practical and beautiful.
Finally, I finished the platter with three coats of food-safe oil. This enhances the natural grain, provides lasting protection and allows the timber to develop even more character over time.

Care
Wipe clean with a damp cloth after use and dry immediately. Do not soak or place in a dishwasher. Refresh the finish occasionally with a food-safe wood oil to keep the timber looking its best.
