Beginner Woodturning Course

Discover the joy of woodturning with a day of woodturning for beginners in Berkshire. This practical experience is designed for individuals seeking a creative outlet to unwind and de-stress. Led by an experienced woodturning teacher, you’ll learn the fundamentals of spindle and faceplate turning, gaining confidence in using the necessary tools. Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own wooden mushroom and bowl, allowing you to tap into your creativity and embrace the art of woodturning. Say goodbye to uncertainty and embark on a fulfilling journey of skill acquisition and self-expression.

  • Learn the basics: Get hands-on experience and learn the fundamentals of spindle and faceplate turning techniques.

Our Facilities

The workshop provides individual lathes, complete sets of turning tools, safety gear, and all necessary materials for each student.

Located in a courtyard surrounded by other craftspeople and artists it is a welcoming, relaxing environment for visitors.

Other amenities include a generous car park and accessible toilets.

Lunch

If you’re coming for the whole day lunch will be provided in the form of a selection of sandwiches from Warings, the local award winning bakery.

If you have any food allergies, intolerances or dietary preferences e.g. vegetarian, please let us know. There will also be tea, coffee and water available through the day but feel free to bring your own snacks and/or a water bottle.

The workshop is based in Berkshire, within easy reach of Reading, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

By Bus:
Take the 2 or 2a bus from Reading and get off at the Amners Farm Road stop. From the bus stop it is a 5 minute walk to the workshop.
