Want to take your crafting to a whole new level? Join us for a fun two-hour kids and adults woodturning session where you’ll learn about the lathe and tools, and transform a simple block of wood into a wonderful item. Whether you’re looking to spend time together or explore a potential new hobby, this session promises not only skills but also laughter and fun along the way. Suitable for ages 9 and up.
What Will You Make?
19th December – We’ll be making Christmas tree decorations in both sessions.
18th February 2026 – We’ll be making battling spinning tops!
31st March – We’ll be making bud vases for those Spring flowers.
To enable us to craft in harmony with nature, for every course attendee, a tree is planted with Ecologi.

- Beginner-Friendly Instruction: Our kids woodturning sessions are perfect for children aged 9 and over, with no prior experience needed. Please note children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Select your number of attendees, date and time slot from the drop-down menus and complete the check-out procedure. Attendees must be 9 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult at all times. Children are classed as between 9 – 18 years old. Unfortunately for safety reasons we cannot allow younger siblings in the workshop. If you have any problems please email: admin@loveheartwood.co.uk

Our Facilities
The workshop provides individual lathes, complete sets of turning tools, safety gear, and all necessary materials for each student.
Located in a courtyard surrounded by other craftspeople and artists it is a welcoming, relaxing environment for visitors.
Other amenities include a generous car park and accessible toilets.
Lunch
If you’re coming for the whole day lunch will be provided in the form of a selection of sandwiches from Warings, the local award winning bakery.
If you have any food allergies, intolerances or dietary preferences e.g. vegetarian, please let us know. There will also be tea, coffee and water available through the day but feel free to bring your own snacks and/or a water bottle.
Health and Safety Information
Turning generates a lot of wood shavings and sawdust so you will be provided with a face shield and turner’s smock. The workshop is also fitted with dust extraction.
Please wear old clothes and sensible footwear, no sandals. Also no hooded tops with dangly drawstrings. Tie back long hair and remove bulky watches, rings or bangles.
If you have any medical issues or are taking any medication you think we should be aware of, please let us know on arrival.
Cancellation Policy
To ensure your booking the course must be paid for in full. If you need to change the date of your course this can be accommodated up to 2 weeks prior to the course. Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts.

By Bus:
Take the 2 or 2a bus from Reading and get off at the Amners Farm Road stop. From the bus stop it is a 5 minute walk to the workshop.
