The woods selected are all from trees native to the UK. Each has its own Celtic symbolic meaning. Silver Birch symbolises passion and new beginnings.  Ash trees were considered symbols of rebirth and capable of performing miraculous healings. The Yew symbolises great age, rebirth and reincarnation. The Oak is the King of trees, the tree of sacred blessings and knowledge, nobility, confidence and prosperity.

The walnut is associated with wisdom and knowledge, because the wrinkled nut encased in a shell is reminiscent of the human brain. It is also symbolic of strength and protection, because the shell keeps the soft inner part of the nut safe from damage. Celtic people believed that planting a walnut tree in their garden would bring fertility and new life to the house.
