naturally handcrafted
A traditional spinning top with string handcrafted from a solid piece of reclaimed local, Beech. Beech is tough which means it'll withstand hard knocks with ease. The stick is made from FSC certified Beech and the cord is hand sewn, sustainable cork cord. The brass stud fitted on the base allows them to spin for a really long time.
Being coloured and finished naturally with plant-based stains and oils means they're completely vegan friendly.
Approximate Measurements: Top 7 x 5 cm. Stick is 13cm long. Cord 35 cm long.

spinning technique
I remember going on holiday, aged 9, to the Isle of Arran on the West Coast of Scotland. Whilst there I bought a whipping top, or whip and peerie, as the Scots say. I remember being excited to see if I could make it work and find out how long it would spin for.
It wasn't easy and in fact took a couple of weeks to get the hang of. The process of learning helped my coordination and taught me a lot about learning a new skill. The fact that I couldn't do it straight away encouraged my curiosity and my tenacity. Plus, the pride I felt in myself when I could do it was that much greater.

Wonderful. I managed to get it running after watching the video on your youtube channel. I found the string on mine too short.
A great little top. I love it and would recommend it without hesitation. A little perseverance is required to get the top spinning, but that’s half the fun. This was my second purchase and I was especially pleased at how well Liz was able to incorporate a suggested adaptation to the design of the top. I’ll be back.
